On October 12 and 13, 2018, the defence of candidate dissertations in the field of comparative pedagogy took place in Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko, which provided opportunities for young researchers to get a wonderful experience presenting their own research in the professional audience.

On October 12, 2018 the scientific work on the theme «Development of higher choreographic education in Germany (second half of the XX-th - the beginning of the XXI-st century)» (supervisor the doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor G.Yu. Nikolai) by I. O. Tkachenko was presented.

On October 13, 2018 the defense of the candidate dissertation of Butovoyi Viru Oleksandrivnu on the theme «Organizational and pedagogical provision of quality assurance in secondary schools in Finland» (supervisor the doctor of pedagogical sciences, senior researcher O. O. Pershukova) was held. The experts in the field of the theory of European education from the leading scientific and educational institutions of Kyiv, Odessa, Poltava, Vinnitsa, Glukhiv, Uman and other cities of Ukraine participated in the work of the specialized academic council.
