On June 23, 2021 the defence of the dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the participant of the project Jean Monnet Module Kokhanova Natalia Yuriyivna on the topic «Organizational and pedagogical foundations of teaching English to primary school pupils in Poland» took place.
Scientific supervisor is Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor O.V. Shapovalova.
The purpose of the study is to find out the organizational and pedagogical foundations of teaching English to primary school pupils in Poland in order to justify the prospects of using the innovative potential of the problem in the development of primary foreign language education in Ukraine.
The scientific novelty of the obtained results is that: for the first time in the Ukrainian pedagogical science the analysis of organizational and pedagogical foundations of teaching English to primary school pupils of Poland is conducted, namely:
- the state of development of the researched problem in the multidisciplinary discourse of domestic science and tendencies of development of theoretical bases of the studied problem are characterized;
- the stages of development of the English language teaching of Polish primary school pupils in the studied period are singled out: 1) formation of the English language teaching in primary school (1991-2001), 2) development of communicative competence in teaching English in primary school (2002-2016), 3) modernization of the methodology of teaching English to primary school pupils (from 2017 to the present);
- the normative foundations of teaching English to primary school pupils in Poland are outlined; they include normative-legal acts of international and national levels and regulate political, organizational and methodical aspects of the researched process;
- organizational foundations are identified (choice of school curriculum for planning the educational process; qualification requirements for teachers who have the right to teach a foreign language in primary school; weekly workload for learning English in primary school; selection of textbooks and manuals for the process of teaching English);
- the possibilities of using the progressive Polish experience in the aspect of the researched problem in Ukraine are determined.
