On April 7, 2020 within the framework of independent work on the course «Researcher’s Academic Culture» the postgraduate students of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko participated in the webinar on Strengthening Academic Integrity in Ukraine Project – SAIUP.

         The webinar «Everything you wanted to know about plagiarism» was held by Yevhen Nikolayev, a consultant of the SAIUP project, a co-author and co-compiler of a number of methodological materials, including «Guidelines for higher education institutions in support of the principles of academic integrity» and «Extended glossary of terms and concepts of academic integrity».

The peculiarities of academic plagiarism were discussed in the webinar. In particular, the following issues have been covered: a) how to write an academic text so that it does not contain plagiarism and self-plagiarism; b) what is common and what is the difference between academic plagiarism and copyright infringement; c) what methods are used to check academic text for plagiarism and whether «plagiarism-free certificates» make sense.
