On November 12-13, 2020 the II International Scientific and Practical Conference «Education for the XXI century: challenges, problems, prospects» was  held at Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko in the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project Module «Europeanization of Doctoral Studies in the Field of Education: Interdisciplinary and Inclusive approaches».

The conference brought together more than 280 participants from almost 40 Ukrainian and foreign academic institutions and institutions of school and extracurricular education, whose representatives took part in the discussion of problems and prospects for the development of preschool, primary, general secondary, out-of-school educational institution, higher education and adult education in the XXI century.

An important component of the professional development of a lecturer of institution of higher education is pedagogical practice. The postgraduate project participants undergo this practice during the second or third year of their study. This year in the conditions of quarantine teaching takes place on the on-line platform ZOOM, therefore, the trainees master new methods and techniques for teaching courses on-line.

On November 5, 2020 a distance lecture on the course «Pedagogy» was held by a second-year postgraduate student of the specialty 011 Educational, pedagogical sciences (field of knowledge 01 – Education/Pedagogy) A.B. Trofimenko for the second-year students of Educational and Scientific Institute of History, Law and International Relations and the Faculty of Foreign and Slavic Philology. The topic of the lecture was «Lesson as the main form of learning organization». During the lecture the following issues were considered: the types and structure of the lesson; the requirements for a modern lesson; teacher’s preparation for the lesson; a pedagogical analysis of the lesson.

At the beginning the topic and didactic goals of this lecture were clearly formulated; the lecture was accurately divided into structural and logical parts. During the explanation of the educational material A. Trofimenko successfully combined traditional and interactive learning technologies, visual methods were provided by the use of modern technical equipment, all illustrations (presentation) were synchronized with the text of the lecture. The postgraduate student asked the problematic questions about the content of the presented material.

The students showed a great interest in the material taught by the postgraduate student A. Trofimenko, were actively involved in the discussion of problematic issues.

On November 7, 2020 the defenсe of the dissertation of the participant of the project O. I. Nefedchenko on the topic «Development of technologies of heuristic education in the Ukrainian higher pedagogical school (the end of the XX-th – beginning of the XXI-st century)» took place at the university.

As the quarantine related to the coronavirus pandemic has been introduced in the region and at the university, some members of the specialized scientific council attended the online meeting on the ZOOM platform.

In the discussion of the dissertation it has been emphasized that the research topic is very closely related to the problems of the scientific school of the supervisor prof. M.O. Lazarev and the field of activity of the postgraduate student herself, who is a high school lecturer. O.I. Nefedchenko actively uses in her professional activity a wide range of pedagogical technologies, which have been systematically characterized in the dissertation. The opponents of the study, in particular Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor, professor of Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after Hryhoriy Skovoroda Popova O.V., have emphasized the huge potential of using heuristic education technologies in the Ukrainian higher pedagogical school.
